REALTOR^® Voice at Queen’s Park

OREA works to promote a legislative and regulatory environment favourable to REALTORS^® and real estate.

OREA, along with its 47,000 REALTOR^® members, have achieved some notable successes recently at Queen’s Park. For example:

• OREA launched two REALTOR^® Calls for Action on sales tax harmonization and mandatory home energy audits that generated nearly 20,000 e-mails to MPPs at Queen’s Park
• OREA initiated a successful advocacy campaign that achieved an amendment to the Green Energy Act allowing buyers to waive mandatory home energy audits at the time of sale
• OREA worked with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines to successfully strengthen private property rights under a new Mining Act
• OREA convinced the Ministry of Finance to expand the Land Transfer Tax rebate program to include resale housing.

OREA actively supports:

• Real estate as a safe and secure investment
• "Smart Growth" land use policies
• Reduced taxes on real estate
• Protection of property rights.
