May I take any Articling course before receiving my salesperson's registration?
Yes, you may take the course at any time. However, if it is taken before obtaining your salesperson registration (after completing Real Estate as a Professional Career, Land, Structures and Real Estate Trading and The Real Estate Transaction - General and The Residential Real Estate Transaction or The Commercial Real Estate Transaction), you are required to re-challenge the examination to receive a credit for the course.

Courses in the Articling segment (except the remaining Residential Real Estate Transaction or Commercial Real Estate Transaction) are open to the general public. These courses are beneficial to other careers.

Why must all individuals with a registered salesperson’s status or broker status attend continuing education courses during each two-year registration cycle?
The real estate market is becoming increasingly complex, particularly given the ever-changing laws and regulatory controls impacting on the purchase and sale of property. Salespersons and brokers must ensure that their knowledge is up-to-date to better assist buyers, sellers, tenants, and landlords.

The Real Estate Council of Ontario is committed to ensuring public trust in the marketplace and one aspect of that vision is to ensure that all practitioners can draw upon current knowledge and information to best serve their clients. The continuing education program requires the completion of 24 continuing education credits within each two-year registration cycle. Registrants will find a wide range of courses offered through providers that address professional interests as well as specific topics geared for residential and commercial fields.

If I completed the e-learning or correspondence portion of The Real Estate Transaction - General and The Residential Real Estate Transaction or The Commercial Real Estate Transaction, is there a time limit to register for the classroom portion of the course?

You must complete Real Estate as a Professional Career, Land, Structures and Real Estate Trading, and The Real Estate Transaction - General and The Residential Real Estate Transaction or The Real Estate Transaction - General and The Commercial Real Estate Transaction within 18 months from the start date of Real Estate as a Professional Career.
