What are the CD-ROM system requirements for CD-ROM courses?
The minimum system requirements to run the CD-ROM courses are:

  • Microsoft Windows 98, ME, or XP
  • Intel Pentium II processor or equivalent with at least 32MB of RAM
  • 30 MB Available disk space
  • 800x600 screen resolution set for 16-bit colour (or higher)
  • Sound card  with speakers or headphones
  • Internet connection
  • Valid e-mail address

How do I install the program?
The installation program should start automatically when you insert the CD. If the installer does not start automatically, click Start on the task bar, choose Run and type the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive followed by ":\setup.exe" (no quotes). After installation, you don't need the CD to run a course.

Can I install the same course again?
There is no need to install the same course for multiple users. Once the course is installed on a PC, any user with a valid key code can login to begin the course.

Can I install and continue the course on another computer?
This is not recommended as you cannot transfer your progress between computers. For this reason, it is recommended that you start and finish the course using the same computer.

How do I start a course?
All courses are launched from the Courses Catalog program. Each time you start a course, your personal key is required to login. Your course progress will be saved in your PC so that next time you log on you will be able to continue from where you left off. For this reason, it is recommended that you start and finish a course from the same PC.

What is a course key?
A course key is a unique number that represents your name and a particular course title. Each course you buy, comes with a unique key code. It is registered only to you and will only work with your name.

Can I share my personal key?
No, you cannot share your personal key code. Each CD-ROM is password protected with a key code and is valid for just one user. The key represents your name and the course title you purchased.

What happens if I lose my personal key?
If you need to verify your key code, please contact OREA Real Estate College at ceadmin@orea.com

Can we share courses?
Courses can be shared on the same computer between registered users. Each user simply logs on using their personal key code. The program tracks each user separately.

What is Demo mode?
Demo mode allows you to preview the look and feel of a course, for example sample the navigation tools, learning activities and course content.  Credits are not offered when using a demonstration file.

How long do I have to complete the course?
You have unlimited time to complete the course.  However, OREA Real Estate College reserves the right to make changes to course content at any time due to changes in regulations or legislation. Students may be required to purchase new materials. In this case, OREA Real Estate College will make every effort to notify students at least three months in advance and a notification will be posted on the OREA Real Estate College website.

What information is tracked in the course?
Upon completion of the course the OREA Real Estate College will be sent the following  information

  • your course key code, login name & student number
  • course title
  • a "pass" confirmation
  • start date of course
  • completion date of course
  • actual time spent logged in the course
  • your course evaluation

What is required to complete the course?
All Module Exercises and the Final Course Quiz must be successfully completed, in addition to the Course Evaluation, before you are eligible to print your Certificate of completion. A result of 75% is required to successfully complete the course. You are given several opportunities to achieve this result.

Do I have to do the course evaluation?
OREA Real Estate College’s goal is to provide you with high quality and relevant courses. To be able to accomplish this effectively we rely on your feedback. All OREA Real Estate College courses include a course evaluation and you will be asked to complete the course evaluation as a requirement of the course. This process will give you an opportunity to reflect on your learning experience and provide us with feedback on what you learned, what you liked and what could be improved on. Your comments will be treated in a confidential manner and will help to enhance future courses.

Do I have to complete the course in sequence?
Yes, the modules are designed to build on each other as you work through the course. At the end of each module you are required to complete an exercise that gives you an opportunity to assess your understanding of the content. A result of 75% is required before moving on to the next module and you are given several opportunities to achieve this result. The number of modules in a course varies depending on the length of the course, the average is 4 modules.

Can I review the course after I complete it?
Yes, you may view the course again, except for the final course quiz.

Can I continue where I left off next time I login?
Yes, the system tracks where you last logged off in the course. Simply, go to the Table of Contents (TOC) and the last module and section you viewed will be highlighted. You may continue with the course from this point on.

How will OREA Real Estate College know when I complete the course?
All Module Exercises and the Final Course Quiz must be successfully completed, in addition to the Course Evaluation, before you are eligible to print your Certificate of completion.  A URL link is provided on the last page of the course which directs you to the OREA Real Estate College website where you will be asked to enter your OREA Student ID number and course key code.  Once authenticated by OREA Real Estate College, you will be eligible to print off your course receipt right to your personal computer.  You have one opportunity to print your receipt.

Why do I need an Internet connection?
An Internet connection is required so that you may access the names of publications, websites and recommended reading applicable to the course you are participating in, as well as corresponding with OREA Real Estate College regarding course confirmation and administration.

How do I get accreditation for the course?
All Module Exercises and the Final Course Quiz must be successfully completed, in addition to the Course Evaluation, before you are eligible to print your Certificate of completion. When you complete the course, to receive the course credit, an e-mail will be sent by your PC (with your permission) with your e-mail address and personal key to the OREA Real Estate College. Upon receipt, they will instruct you on how to obtain your course certificate.
