College Program Standards – Cancellation of Classes

Classroom course sessions may be cancelled, postponed, or added, depending on demand.

Situations may arise that necessitate the cancellation of a course, the alteration of start date, or some other change that affects the timing, location, or duration of course offerings. The College will communicate such changes to the student. Students will be offered the option of either a refund or a transfer. The College does not assume responsibility or liability concerning any inconvenience, expense, or other resulting losses incurred by students due to such changes.

In cases where the student requests a refund in respect of a cancelled course, any course materials received must be returned to the College in their original unmarked condition.

College Program Standards - Examinations

Important Changes That Affect You

Effective April 1, 2009, in conjunction with the implementation of the new Path to Success in Real Estate program, the following examination procedures will apply.

All students must select an examination date and location of their choice at the time of enrollment in a course. In the case of e-learning and correspondence sessions, the examination cannot be scheduled for the Saturday immediately following the start date of the course. In the case of classroom sessions, the examination must be scheduled for a date following the conclusion of the course.

Following initial enrollment, requests to reschedule an examination will be subject to a $50 non-refundable administration fee for each request.

The revised examination format involves the implementation of multiple-choice examinations for each Registration Education course. The use of Scantron technology will provide for the timely release of examination marks directly into the student’s My Portfolio account. Since all examinations will be written at designated test centres, the College will be running examinations every Saturday at all test centres in the province.

In order to process examinations and provide results in an efficient and timely manner, the following rescheduling guidelines will be followed:

  • Requests to reschedule an examination must be made a minimum of 10 calendar days before the desired examination date.
  • Students may contact the College and reschedule an examination up to the close of business 10 calendar days before the currently scheduled examination date.

A student who does not write their scheduled examination will be given a grade of “0”, the course transcript will reflect “fail” and an examination attempt will be lost.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, please feel free to contact a customer service representative at the OREA Real Estate College at 416-391-6732 or 1-866-411-6732.

Accommodating a Special Need

Students having a disability (as defined in the Ontario Human Rights Code) that would prevent them from completing a course or taking examinations under standard conditions may request special accommodations and arrangements. Any such request will be considered on a case by case basis, with a view to providing equal opportunity for performance and to meet the student's disability-related needs. Students requesting accommodation on the basis of disability will be required to have their regulated health professional complete the Student Request For Accommodation of a Special Need form.

The form must be completed at the time of enrolment in a course and must be submitted promptly by the student to the Assistant Director - Registration Education, OREA Real Estate College, 99 Duncan Mill Road, Don Mills, Ontario, M3B 1Z2.

You can download the Student Request for Accommodation Of A Special Need form now or you may also contact the College at (416) 391-6732 or (866) 411-6732 and a copy of the form will be forwarded by fax or e-mail.
