Supporting Ontario REALTORS ®: OREA’s 2021-2026 Strategic Plan

Ontario’s REALTORS® are at the heart of everything we do at OREA. Our mission is to support our Members in helping people find a great place to call home, work and thrive.

We know our strengths: where we excel, and where others may be better positioned to deliver. Our 2021-2026 Strategic Plan is rooted in these strengths, giving even greater value to REALTORS®, Member Boards, and Brokerages.

Over the next five years, OREA will continue to focus on our three key pillars: advocacy, standard forms, and leadership training. We will be offering Members more opportunities to learn from experts, new research on consumer trends, and expanded on-the-ground advocacy to protect the reputation of REALTORS® and champion home ownership in Ontario.

OREA will continue to provide Member Boards guidance on issues that matter most, while looking to improve communication, reduce duplication of services, and offer a greater focus on using data and metrics to drive decisions.

Bold Ideas for New Member Services

In 2020, OREA conducted the most extensive Member services consultation in OREA’s history. We received more than 2,000 pieces of feedback from our Members on four new, bold ideas. We conducted nearly 250 interviews with real estate leaders, and in-depth research on the feasibility of these ideas.

Your OREA Board of Directors has listened to Member input and made its final decisions, implementing two out of four of the bold ideas.

OREA will:

  • Pursue an on-the-ground advocacy approach in support of local Boards;
  • Identify new and enhanced course development opportunities for Forms, Leadership and new Member education.

OREA will not:

  • Provide funding for or play an active role in the consolidation of MLS® or for MLS® data sharing - these matters are best handled autonomously by Member Boards;
  • Create a provincial commercial MLS® or commercial overlay board.

In addition, OREA will strengthen its role as a provincial voice for Commercial REALTORS®, beginning with a consultation process with senior leadership of commercial agencies and Members.

Thank you to all Member Boards, Leaders, and Ontario REALTORS® who participated in the consultation process. For further information on how we will achieve this, view OREA’s new 2021-2026 Strategic Plan.
