Online Exams – FAQs and Troubleshooting

Exam Reschedule Fee Notice:
Starting August 1, 2020, OREA Real Estate College will reinstate the standard exam reschedule fee for Online-proctored examinations.

We know that you have questions.

Here are answers to some of the ones that many students have asked.
And sometimes, despite everything you do, you might run into technical issues – our Troubleshooting section has some helpful tips

Who do I call if I need help?

If you have technical problems during your exam, inform your proctor immediately, using the private chat window in your exam. Proctortrack will provide support at that time.

If you lose internet access for an extended period during your exam, contact the college as soon as possible for assistance. We will review each case on its own merits.

Frequently asked questions

At initial launch, only the standard examination will be offered for booking.

OREA is committed to providing an equitable exam experience and we will be working to expand this solutions to some students with special accommodations. However, because of the nature of some accommodations, they are not suitable for online-proctored virtual exams.

Yes. You are allowed one five-minute break during your exam. You can request the break from your online proctor at anytime during your examination.

As with in-person exams, you are expected to be ready on time for your online exam. If you log in late - and are not permitted to take the exam - you may book a new exam in My Portfolio. The standard fee will apply.

No. You are not permitted to wear headphones or ear buds at any point during your online examination.

At least one day before your scheduled exam, you are required to complete the onboarding steps (which includes a system compatibility check). This is to make sure you are able to take the exam without issue.

If you have technical problems during your exam itself, inform your proctor immediately, using the private chat window.

If your computer shuts down at any point in your exam, you should attempt to log back in as soon as possible.

If resuming your exam doesn’t work, contact OREA customer services for assistance, during regular working hours.

Yes. The college’s exam reschedule rules apply to online exams - you may change your exam type or location up to the day before your currently scheduled examination date.

No. To take your exam online, you are required to download and run a program that facilitates the online proctored exam. This application is not compatible with Chromebooks and tablets.

You will be required to do a room scan to show the proctor that your work area meets the criteria for taking the exam.

To do the room scan you will need to download a companion app on an Android or iOS smartphone. After installing the app, you will use your phone’s camera to scan your exam vicinity, according to the instructions provided.

Additionally, your proctor may request a room or desk scan at any point during the examination session.

Onboarding approval typically takes 4 to 8 hours.

There are two ways you will be informed that your profile is approved for your live exam:

  • In your OREA My Portfolio student account.
    Your onboarding status will change from Pending to Approved, AND the ‘Go to Onboarding’ button will change to say Go to Exam Site
  • In our personal email account.
    You will receive an email from Proctortrack confirming that your profile has been approved.

No. You won’t.

Once your onboarding profile has been approved by Proctortrack, you don’t need to do it again.

However, if you plan on using a different computer to do your exam, we recommend you do the Onboarding system check again on your new device.
