Residential Leasing IssuesA new year marks a fresh start, and real estate forms also get updated on an annual basis. Find out what’s new in forms and clauses in 2017 by attending an upcoming web seminar offered by the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA).

This live web seminar (webinar) is free to all OREA members. It is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, January 17 at 1:00 p.m. The session, “Forms Revisions and Updates for 2017”, will be hosted by Cassandra Agnew Walker, senior manager, standard forms, at OREA. It will feature special guest participant John Burnet, manager of complaints, compliance and discipline at the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). He will provide important input from the real estate industry’s regulator in the province.

Each year, revisions are made to standard forms at OREA. That sometimes includes revisions of new, pre-set clauses within various forms. “We want our members to stay abreast of changes to forms and clauses, and the January seminar is a great way to learn about the latest revisions and updates,” says Agnew Walker.

“It’s also a refresher and reminder about recent changes that we believe are helpful for REALTORS®. We encourage members to take part in the seminar to enhance their knowledge and help maintain integrity and competency in their trading activities when using standard forms.”

The webinar will cover the following topics:

  • Be informed: 2017 updates on new and revised OREA forms and clauses
  • Reminder and caution around copyright dos and don’ts
  • Resources for OREA members
  • Explanation forms – Enhance your knowledge in just a few minutes.

Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions and share their own experiences. This webinar is just one in a series related to standard forms presented by OREA. To join in, all you need is a computer with working speakers and internet access. Eight more webinars are planned for 2017. Like all webinars, the format for this topic will be interactive. You can submit questions, listen to speakers and watch slides related to the topic. If you can’t participate in the seminar on the date offered, you can watch a recorded version at a later date and time convenient to you.

OREA members can register in advance in order to obtain a login link for the webinar. On the day of the webinar, members can log in up to 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
