REITs outperform stock exchange

For five consecutive years Scotia Capitals real estate investment funds have outperformed the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index based on total returns

For five consecutive years Scotia Capitals real estate investment funds have outperformed the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index based on total returns, the Globe and Mail recently reported. Scotias REIT sector ended the year with a total return of 17.4 per cent and a price-only return of 8.4 per cent. Scotia expects the REITs to continue to perform well if interest rates remain at current levels.
