Wired Office: CD-ROM courses offer the ultimate flexibility

Busy REALTORS can't always find the time to complete continuing education courses - even online courses - during the allotted schedule.

Busy REALTORS can't always find the time to complete continuing education courses - even online courses - during the allotted schedule. However, with the introduction of OREA CE courses on CD-ROM, you can study at your own pace anytime, anywhere.

The beauty of CD-ROM is that it combines the convenience of correspondence with the efficiency of computer technology. So far two courses are offered on CD, Title Insurance (3 CE credits) and Buyer Agency (2 CE credits). The OREA Real Estate College is also planning to release the following titles in the near future: Complying with Privacy (3 CE credits), Multiple Offers (2 CE credits) and Power of Sale (2 CE credits). The cost for each course is $25.

How it works
When you purchase your CD from OREA, you will be given a course "key-code" a unique number that represents your name and a particular course title. Each course you buy comes with a personal key code that is registered only to you and will only work with your name.

To get started you simply log on through the courses calendar program and enter your personal "key." Your course progress will be saved in your PC so that next time you log on you will be able to continue from where you left off.

In order to receive accreditation for the course, all module exercises, the final course quiz and the course evaluation must be successfully completed. The modules are designed to build on each other as you work through the course and at the end of each module you are required to complete an exercise that gives you an opportunity to assess your understanding of the content.

The last page of the course provides a URL link to www.orea.com where you will be asked to provide your student ID number and course key code. Once authenticated by OREA, you will be able to print off your Certificate of Completion.

User-friendly
OREA's CD-ROM courses have been designed to be easy to navigate and students can access online help at anytime. The built-in table of contents tracks your progress through the course highlighting where you last left off each time you log on. Your credits will be stored in your "My Portfolio" section on the OREA web site helping you keep track of how many credits you have accumulated towards your mandatory continuing education requirements for RECO.

What equipment is required?
The minimum system requirements to run the CD-ROM courses are:

  • Microsoft Windows 98, ME, or XP

  • 30 MB Available disk space
  • 800x600 screen resolution set for 16-bit colour (or higher)
