Quality of Life campaign launched at 2009 OREA Political Affairs Conference

In response to the call from member real estate boards and associations, OREA has developed materials for boards, associations and REALTORS® to use to implement quality of life principles and practices in their day to day business.

In response to the call from member real estate boards and associations, OREA has developed materials for boards, associations and REALTORS® to use to implement quality of life principles and practices in their day to day business.

The materials – a brochure, a guide and a video – talk about quality of life, its principles and benefits and how to implement them and measure the outcome of your efforts.

The brochure outlines the five principles: protecting economic vitality; providing housing opportunities; preserving our environment; protecting property owners; and, building better communities.

The guide entitled REALTOR® Guide to Quality of Life describes the quality of life principles and goes on to give a six-step implementation plan. The 10-page guide also suggests ways boards and associations can run quality of life programs and can communicate quality of life principles to its REALTORS®.

The brochure, REALTORS®: Improving Quality of Life, is customizable. Boards can put their board logos on the brochure and members can use them with their clients.

OREA, CREA and the FCIQ, Quebec’s Federation of Real Estate Boards, partnered to create the video. Boards and associations can show it at training meetings and REALTORS® can put it on their own websites as well. The video is meant to be an introspective and inspirational look at how REALTORS® are involved in their communities, and how they not only help people find the house of their dreams but also how they help build a community– from helping newcomers to find work, to being involved in new community centres and neighbourhood park developments.

The materials will be available in November on the OREA website at www.orea.com/qualityoflife.
