Political affairs conference

The Ontario Real Estate Association is holding its Political Affairs Conference (PAC) this month.

The Ontario Real Estate Association is holding its Political Affairs Conference (PAC) this month. This event takes place from Nov. 20 to 22 at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in downtown Toronto and will focus on four issues. Delegates will continue to lobby for an amendment of the Electronic Commerce Act, 2000 to facilitate the use of electronic agreements of purchase and sale. Ontario REALTORS® will keep fighting for the right to form personal real estate corporations as well as for a province-wide registry for former marijuana grow operations. Finally, OREA will work to prevent the spread of municipal land transfer taxes across Ontario.

The PAC agenda will include addresses from prominent politicians and public figures. Most notably, the conference will feature: a political pundit panel with Ezra Levant and Stephen LeDrew; a session on how delegates can build a better relationship with their local MPPs led by former health minister David Caplan; and a timely analysis of the American presidential election and what it means for Canada from the Globe and Mail’s Konrad Yakabuski.

Delegates will also hear from the Ontario leaders of the Progressive Conservative party  and the New Democratic Party as well as from consumer services minister Margarett Best. To learn more, visit the Government Relations section of this website.
