OREA College launches salesperson training program

New real estate salespeople graduate from OREA’s Real Estate College with a comprehensive education, but often struggle with practical knowledge in the first weeks and months on the job.

New real estate salespeople graduate from OREA’s Real Estate College with a comprehensive education, but often struggle with practical knowledge in the first weeks and months on the job. A new mentoring program developed by the College entitled Training for Success: A Mentoring Kit for New Salespeople aims to address this issue by bridging the gap between the registration education program and a new salesperson’s own practical, on-the-job training. The program is also meant to complement the in-house training programs offered by many firms.

The concept for the Training for Success program was the result of feedback from brokers including complaints about new salespeople making mistakes that could be avoided. Further feedback from focus group sessions indicated a strong need for practical guidance in the early stages of a new REALTOR’s career. Many of the experienced REALTORS in the discussions credited the help and direction of a mentor at the beginning of their career as a key ingredient in their overall success.

Unfortunately, mentoring requires time and individual attention that many brokers in today’s real estate market just don’t have. The Training for Success program will not only provide solid, practical, and useful information to graduates of OREA’s registration education program, but will also become a valuable resource for broker managers and other mentors in each office.

Training materials
The program is a highly interactive, user-friendly training kit that consists of a presentation binder, a participant’s workbook, a broker’s guide and multiple DVDs. Each salesperson will work through the training at their own pace using the participant’s workbook and training DVDs. The Broker’s Guide is a short booklet that walks the broker through the training as a mentor.

The Training for Success program will be given to all graduates of OREA’s Phase 3 program starting this spring. For more information contact the OREA Real Estate College or visit www.oreacollege.com.
